Packed to the gills, despite a ticket price range of $63 to $258 (plus service charges), the 46-year-old arena felt like a scene out of San Diego-bred film director Cameron Crowe’s “Almost Famous.” A dry, smoky haze filled the arena as fans – including basketball legend Bill Walton, skateboarder Tony Hawk, and San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders – took their seats as music by The Beatles echoed over the house sound system. Sunday’s show was the first time the tour, which is based on Pink Floyd’s multiplatinum 1979 double concept-album “The Wall,” has stopped in San Diego. The tour has been a colossal critical and commercial success in 20 - drawing more than 1.6 million fans to 120-plus shows worldwide. Roger Waters, former Pink Floyd bassist, lyricist, and vocalist, has taken “The Wall Live Tour” on a victory lap through North America, with a mix of stadium shows and arena gigs that included a stop at Valley View Casino Center (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena) Sunday night.
